Ramadhan has arrived and as always we find ourselves in the midst of multiple invitations to Iftars across Sydney.

Nahda, in its annual tradition, would like to invite all brothers to our Iftar, which we are holding on the 29th of August. Come along for a night full of rewards and a good variety of food. Meet brothers whom you haven’t seen for a long time and make new friends.

We will be offering tarawih prayers so no need to worry about missing tarawih!

 You are all invited to come this Sunday 1 st  of August where we will be covering the topic of Ramadan, The month of the Ummah at 12pm at our usual place- 6 Yerrick Road, Lakemba.

Each year, we prepare ourselves for the coming of Ramadan. We go to many workshops on how to get ready for Ramadan, but each year, we fool ourselves into believing that we will make it right through all 30 days fully equipped with tools of ‘ibaadah, fully indulged in the blessed days of the month.

Sisters, come join us to discover how to overcome your middle Ramadan fall, to provide yourself with the tools of renewal, inspiration and motivation, to learn the methods and strategies the Sahabah implemented during Ramadan, to understand the importance of a fully-rounded Ramadan, to set free your full potential as a worshiper and servant of Allah and finally to destroy any bumps in the road that will arise during the month of Ramadan and stop you from making the most of it.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) says, “Ramadan has come to you. (It is) a month of blessing, in which Allah covers you with blessing, for he sends down mercy, decreases sins and answers prayers. In it, Allah looks at your competition (in good deeds), and boasts about you to His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for the unfortunate one is he who is deprived in (this month) of the mercy of Allah, the Mighty, the Exalted.” [Narrated by Tabarani]

This will also be the LAST Ansar till the END OF RAMADAN and InshaAllah we will return back to our normal routine after Eid.

This week’s topic is about what influences us as young muslimahs: is it music? Is it the style & type of clothes we wear? Is it the brands we see on ads? Is it movies and tv celebs? Is it where we live? What country we are from? Is it the beliefs and ideas we carry? Or is our close family, our good muslim peers and friends? Or the Sahabah (the Companions)? Or our beloved Rasulullah SAW?

What influences us? What should influence us? How do we maintain an Islamic personality and outlook? What makes us different?

And so, starting with this topic we will present issues ’for the young muslimah’ - passing advice to one another and taking part in creative activities inshaAllah

This week’s topic is about the family unit in Islam & ways to strengthen our relationships with our parents, siblings and grandparents. There are many challenges that occur through primary and high school where we are faced with all kinds of peer pressure and find it difficult to communicate about it openly towards our parents and sometimes even older brothers or sisters.

What do we do? How do we reach out when it feels like there is such a generational gap? Why should we tell them, they don’t need to know…

It is important to understand & implement during this transitional period of ‘teenage-hood’ good relationships with our parents, and as daughters, to be open to our dear mums who nurture, care and worry over us!

And so, starting with this topic we will present issues ‘for the young muslimah’ – passing advice to one another and taking part in creative activities inshaAllah

THE MUSLIM RULERS/LEADERS – where do our alleigances lie?

The rulers who have governed the Muslim World since the destruction of the Islam’s unifying state (the Khilafah) in 1924 have not only neglected the command of Allah Swt (The shariah), but have oppressed their own people, acted upon the commands of other nations’ leaders, and assisted in the wilful destruction of Muslims’ resources. As Muslim youth, we need to aware of the reality of the Muslim world and arm ourselves with the knowledge we need to know what is the Islamic view towards the situation we are in today. Join us on Saturday the 22nd of May when we discuss this critical issue, using specific cases such as that of Aafia Siddiqui, and the position that every single Muslim should have towards those who “rule” the Muslims today and what Islam says regarding the matters related to ruling.

The greatest creation of all. He was the best of examples for mankind. He was a loving father, and understanding husband, an inept military strategist, a brave soldier, an eloquent statesman, a hard working employee and of course a Messenger of Allah. He is Muhammed (saw). How much do we really love and know him? Be prepared for a nahda gathering full of magnificent revelations about a man most beloved to Allah.

You are all invited to come this Sunday 23rd of May where we will be covering some Fiqh (Islamic Law) topics on things that apply to our daily lives and therefore very practical information for all of us, especially as women!

Following on from our last Ansar where we covered the issues related to Taharah, this week we will finish off with the Fiqh or Rules and Laws of Prayer – Salah. In this topic we will cover all issues related to all the various Sunnah and Fardh actions within Prayer, what nullifies and what validates prayer and many more. And if you have any questions related – you are free to ask! All of the rules will be presented in relation to the Shafi’ih School of Thought/Madhab.
