With the grace of Allah (Swt) Nahda and Ansar successfully held the anticipated event and exhibition on the Qur’an entitled “Rise for the Qur’an”. The event consisted of three talks and a QNA session, as well as an exhibition that was enjoyed by attendees before and after the talks, showcasing the Qur’an through the history and some of the attacks that have taken place on the Qur’an and its concepts.

Al Farooq Cup 2009: A fantastic day of sport and brotherhood through the camera lens

On Sunday the 10th of January 2009 Nahda held its first ever football competition entitled the Al Farooq Cup. The cup was finally held after TWO CANCELLATIONS/POSTPONEMENTS, and while the turnout was lower for this reason (many teams couldnt commit once the date was changed, understandably) nonetheless the brothers who partook enjoyed a fantastic day by the grace of Allah that saw hard sports, food and of course a fantastic sense of brotherhood. Here we have captured some of the key moments, and hope you enjoy them. And of course, the Al Farooq Cup WILL be back bi Idhnillah, in the future.

The winning team was “Autobots” – a group of youngsters who showed the older players what its really about. Other teams competing were “Muharrireen”, “Prada” (finalists), “J”, Lonsdale Liverpool Lions, Chullora Wolves.

On the 5th of September 2009 Nahda held its annual Iftar for brothers at the Bankstown Senior Citizens’ Center. A packed venue saw many brothers eat themselves to their fill. We thank all brothers who came and ask Allah swt to accept the iftar from the organisers and attendees as an act of collective Ibadah.
